SUMMARY
The WorkSource Career Services at South Seattle College connects professional-technical and academic programs on campus with employment services to meet workforce needs. The department serves as a one-stop hub to provide internships and job placement assistance in order to develop and maintain workforce development relationships with select industry partners. The Embedded Career Specialist (ECS) is responsible for building and managing faculty relationships for specific professional-technical programs in order to assess and adjust services to meet the changing demands across a variety of industries. The ECS assists South students in achieving employment upon completion of their studies.
South's Embedded Career Services model is unique in that it is embedded into the curriculum of the various professional-technical programs and most services such as workshops, site visits, hiring events, etc. take place during class times with prior instructor approval and collaboration. Thus, the ECS is in classrooms and out of the office the majority of the time. This model allows the ECS to connect with faculty to become content experts while working with students and industry employers from start to finish.
