Job Summary:

Communication Technician 1 is an entry-level position that increases in the degree of responsibility as Technician advances through the program. During training, supervision will decrease as the Technician becomes more adept and proficient in given skills and tasks.

The Technician is responsible for demonstrating sufficient aptitude in acquiring the skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks related to broadband installation and troubleshooting activities, will provide written field assessments and meet Comcast Employee Standards. Supervisor approval determines advancement to next level, CT2. Continued employment and advancement is contingent upon meeting and completing the required training, certifications and safety requirements.


Core Responsibilities:

● Perform reconnects requested and non-pay disconnects, changes of service, while adhering to: Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements, and local ordinances in order to provide (or remove) services to the customer. Pre-wires single dwelling units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) in order to provide ready hook-up capabilities at the time of moving in

● Complete necessary paperwork for each work order in a timely manner, ensure all details of the work order are recorded for entry in the customer's account once work order is checked in

● Review all requested services with the customer in order to ensure understanding and agreement. Troubleshoot, install and/or disconnect customer equipment, provide customer with upgrades or downgrades in service as requested, review picture quality following connection of cable service

● Provide customer with general information regarding channel lineup, use of converter, and company policies as they relate to the customers service, instruct customer in proper use of equipment and company guidelines

● Clean, maintain, and stock appropriate equipment in vehicle. Inspect existing grounds; make necessary adjustments to damaged ground in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) to protect employees and customers from electrical shock

● Properly operate and maintain installation tools and equipment. File reports needed for vehicle repair or service when required. Report accidents, losses, injuries, or property damage to Supervisor and notify customer when appropriate

● Ability to use basic cable installation tools and other hand tools, climb ladders, poles and bucket trucks (18 – 20 feet high). Read blueprints, basic knowledge of mathematics, cable television products and services

● Communicate with customers in a clear and straightforward manner. Proven ability to work independently and to prioritize and organize effectively

● Lift and carry loads of 70 lbs. or more, ability to work in confined spaces such as crawl space or attic. Ability to stand for long periods

● Work within manufacturer's rated weight capacity for all equipment, including but not limited to ladders and aerial lifts

● Operate company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner while working and traveling in all types of weather

● Ability to work overtime including weekends, evenings and holidays

● Able to apply common sense, theory, and experience in decision-making; able to recognize similarities between past and current situations; able to identify key issues; use deductive reasoning in complex situations. Able to determine a customer's long and short-term needs

● Able to finish projects in a timely manner despite obstacles, or redirect when necessary; able to follow instructions, take action and address opportunities with little supervision. Take initiative, go that extra mile, to prevent problems, mistakes or create opportunities

● Regular, consistent and punctual attendance

● Have excellent listening skills and responsive to non-verbal cues and behavior, able to empathize, respond sensitively and use good judgment when responding to customer objections or complaints

● At the completion of 45 days (maximum) of service a Technician must have completed the required certification and training programs; Safety, Company-specific policies and procedures, Installer Training, Customer Contact, Product Knowledge and Sales; pass the written and skills assessment and meet Comcast Employee Standards. With a supervisor's approval the Technician may then advance to the next level, CT2

We have an opportunity to bring in a senior level Strategic Capital & Budget Coordinator to help

lead, plan, and carry out the development of City’s strategic capital & budgetary agenda. In this

position, you will report to the Fiscal Management Team Manager and have the opportunity to

work directly with the Mayor’s Office, Senior Executive Staff, City Councilmembers, department

directors and capital & finance managers.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Acting as an advisor to the Budget Director, the Mayor, City Council, City departments,

and utilities on matters related to debt and capital planning.

· Working with departments to develop the City’s strategic capital agenda and capital

investment proposals.

· Establishing and coordinating Capital Sub-cabinet meetings to address key capital

issues and provide an avenue for Mayoral direction and issue resolution.

· Identifying potential funding options and developing specific funding proposals for interdepartmental

capital investments.

· Creating and maintaining financial models supporting long-term budgetary analysis

involving multiple funding sources.

· Analyzing long-term trends and early identification of potential future budgetary issues.

· Working across departmental lines to improve project planning and the coordination of

infrastructure investments to align with the City’s longer term growth plans.

· Developing appropriate financing solutions to meet the City’s capital & budgetary needs

while prudently managing the City’s total debt obligations.

Marguerite Casey Foundation is seeking a community change agent with an interest in advocacy, social justice, movement building, organizing and community and family empowerment to serve as its new Program Fellow - Midwest Region.  This is an 18-month opportunity and foundation experience, while not required, is a plus. The position is based at Foundation headquarters in Seattle and involves extensive travel to Chicago, along with some surrounding southern states, working closely and collaboratively with grantee organizations across the region.  The position reports to the Associate Director, Grantmaking & Evaluation.


Momentum Fellowship

The fellowship is offered through a partnership with the Momentum Fellowship Program at Philanthropy Northwest (please see for more information). In addition to opportunities Marguerite Casey Foundation, the fellows will be part of a regional Momentum Fellowship Program learning and networking cohort with peer fellows from other participating foundations. This will include participation in quarterly cohort meetings, coaching sessions, and mentoring/training opportunities.



As Program Fellow – Midwest Region you will work as an integral part of the team to accrue a strong working knowledge of philanthropy and support for grantees in your assigned region.  This role is designed to provide an opportunity for high-level, experiential training and development through hands-on learning and assigned responsibilities.


The key responsibilities of the Fellow are:

·        Grantmaking.  With support and strong guidance from the foundation's grantmaking team, evaluate current grantees, potential grantees, and grantees up for renewal to determine organizational fit, assess financial status and viability, determine whether each grantee's work matches the mission and values of the Foundation, and monitor each current grantee's progress toward goals and objectives outlined in each grant.

·        Regional Oversight and Analysis.  Analyze the region to assess family needs, identify potential grantees and opportunities for Foundation work.

·        Grantee Engagement.  Communicate and relay messages to the grantees that are integrated and in alignment with the Foundation's communications strategy and overall organizational strategy.

·        External Relations.  Maintain a field presence throughout the region on behalf of the Foundation. Represent the Foundation at regional conferences and meetings, build and maintain a network of community and political contacts throughout the region, facilitate networking among grantees and between grantees and other community organizations.

·        Writing/Communications.  Write grant recommendations, region analysis reports, and reports on the effect of grant making throughout the region and with specific grantees. Present findings and incorporate into quarterly Board reports.  Contribute written articles and reports and support the development of Foundation publications, Board Books and public relations initiatives.

·        Facilitation.  Facilitate coordination of various meetings to advance the work.

·        Participation:  In Momentum Fellowship cohort meetings and mentoring/training sessions.

·        Bachelor's degree required in Public Policy, Community Development or related field. Relevant Master's Degree is a plus.
