SUMMARY

The WorkSource Career Services at South Seattle College connects professional-technical and academic programs on campus with employment services to meet workforce needs. The department serves as a one-stop hub to provide internships and job placement assistance in order to develop and maintain workforce development relationships with industry partners. The Data Specialist is responsible for creating, gathering, and maintaining current placement information using a CSO database called CareerHub. This position will help demonstrate and document the employment outcomes that are being met, help with statewide and federal grant reporting, and assist with strategic planning at an institutional level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 Manage the day to day operation of the CareerHub database related to employment analysis and reporting.

 

 Track, report, and follow up on employment placement for current students and alums.

 

 Responsible for collecting hiring data from employers.

 

 Develop training materials and conduct training on various systems including SMS and CareerHub.

 

 Format placement information into readable and accessible formats to aid in reporting.

 

 Support the college in transitioning to the new WorkSource database system.

 

 Provide employment data as requested to support grant proposals and initiatives at specific times of the year.

 

 Track Embedded Career Services using CSO system and WorkSource SKIES database.

 

 

 Utilize Student Management Systems and Microsoft programs such as Outlook to manage and communicate schedule.

 

 Engage in committees, meetings, and outreach events with campus and WorkSource professionals to promote the WorkSource Career Services department.

 Able to use technology to track, present, and share information such as employment placement numbers.

 

 Can switch from one task to another while remaining focused.

 

 Excellent follow through and attention to detail.

 

 Strong interpersonal skills with ability to adapt oral and written communication to accommodate different personalities and learning preferences.

 

 Ability to accommodate changing deadlines and priorities and thrive in fast-paced work environment.

 

 Enjoys working collaboratively within a team setting to share ideas, information, and give and receive feedback.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Bachelor's Degree or 4 years professional experience in higher education or workforce development.

 

 Ability to work between the hours of 7am-6pm, with exact dates and hours to be determined according to program needs and not to exceed 16 hours per week; occasional nights and weekends as necessary.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 Master's Degree and 2 years higher education work experience with an emphasis in workforce development programs.

 

 

 Experience working directly with students in higher education setting within career services or academic advising.
