Capacities and requirements
Entry level position working in shop. Cuts new or duplicate keys using machines and hand tools. Re-keys locks at work bench. Stocks inventory and orders parts. Customer service in person and by phone. Sales of items in locksmith store including operating cash register. Field work possible, but not required, depending on individual OJT plan. Trainee must have no criminal background/history. Drug screen possible. If field work to be included in individual OJT then driver's license, driving abstract, and insurance may be required. This is a 20-40 hours per week, six-month OJT. Requires basic reading, writing, and math skills, and intermediate computer skills.
