How does the Information and Referral Specialist contribute to our Mission?
The Information and Referral Specialist provides assistance and information about available resources to individuals, families, and community members who contact the Family Support Center. The information, referrals, and navigation assistance provided helps provide health, justice and hope to individuals and families who seek to find ways to meet basic needs, receive support, engage in educational opportunities, build life skills, and meet their goals. The Information and Referral Specialist can help individuals and families to access community resources and information that moves them forward out of poverty or into more stable individual or family circumstances. This position provides support and access to resources for participants who speak English, Spanish, and other languages spoken in the communities that the Family Support Center serves.
The Information & Referral Specialist is responsible for greeting and assisting clients, performing outreach, developing and facilitating community programs, and building professional relationships within and outside of the Family Support Center. This requires a helpful, positive attitude; a commitment to working well as part of a team; experience and enjoyment of working in a multicultural setting; and a genuine desire to serve the community.
