Senior Estimator -Civil emphasis - ProDims ( project dimensions)

Senior Estimator

 

ProDims is currently accepting resumes for Senior Estimators with transportation, airport, rail, and tunnel structure estimating experience.  Hands on experience working on buildings and heavy civil projects including but not limited to runway, airport aprons, service tunnels,  heavy civil underground, shaft, bridge, dam, concrete, steel, pile driving, and coffer dam projects a plus.  Candidate must have experience working with/for a heavy civil contractor.


Candidates must have strong computer skills, and familiar with estimating and other software programs including but not limited to (HCSS), Timberline, MC2 and Microsoft Office.  Candidate may establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards. Initiate and maintain liaison with client and contractors, to facilitate construction activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by this position.  It is a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Candidate may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

·        Prepare total cost estimates using preliminary design criteria and narrative information; documents estimate assumptions and conditions; prepares detailed total cost estimates based on 30% to 100% complete design drawings and specifications.

·        Review and conduct analysis of consultant estimates, from preliminary engineering through final design; at final submittal, adjust consultant estimate to add addendum changes, cost escalation, contingencies, and provisional sum costs for risk impacts; and issue an engineer estimate at bid.

·        Prepare detailed independent cost estimates for construction changes for all work category disciplines; coordinate with design groups, site construction manager (CM) to determine actual change conditions and confirms scope as required.

·        Assist in the development of project risk assessment, conduct construction risk analysis and risk mitigation, and cost contingencies analysis using risk analysis and simulation tools.

·        Monitor current construction market prices and develop historical cost database; assist the project controls manager with monthly forecast ‘estimate to complete’ (ETC) report by providing remaining quantity estimates and assessments and current market rate/trend analysis data.

·        Attend meetings with design groups, cost consultants, third parties, and construction management to determine scope and discuss costs for various projects; attend meetings with consultant construction management and contractors to resolve scope and costs for changes.

·        Provide support to the Senior Cost Engineer and the Project Controls Manager, Scheduling, Cost Estimating, Risk, and VE and others on matters as directed; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence; attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the fields related to area of assignment; incorporate new developments as appropriate; ensure processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively; ensure accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws including agency policies and procedures, rules and regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

·        BS in engineering or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience

·        7-10 years experience estimating heavy civil projects

·        Estimating service tunnel structures, parking garages, loading dock structures, utilities and storage tank experience required

·        Ability to estimate structural, civil, projects

·        Proficient with scheduling and estimating software

·        Able to read, understand and interpret drawings, contract specifications and other technical documents used in mechanical, construction and general contracting

·        Well developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities including project managers, customers, clients, subcontractors, and staff

·        Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills

·        Self-starting, highly motivated and goal-oriented, quick, sharp, confident, assertive, ethical and ambitious individual

·        Excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality. Very organized with a systematic approach to tasks to achieve accuracy and efficiency
