Northwest is the philanthropy network for Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon,
Washington and Wyoming. We envision vibrant, healthy Northwest communities –

partner with family funds, foundations and corporate giving programs through
professional development, networking, research, publications, public policy
work and consulting.
Our work includes
three core programs: 1) The Learning Network, a regional community providing
opportunities for emerging and established philanthropy leaders to connect,
learn and grow; 2) The Giving Practice, a national consulting team bringing
customized solutions, deep regional relationships and national expertise to
support organizations navigating philanthropy’s changing landscape; 3) An
incubation platform for innovative philanthropic projects, including: Cascadia
Foodshed Financing Project and Community Democracy Workshop.

THE JOB
We seek an energetic
and talented individual to join our finance team. The bookkeeper serves an
important role across Philanthropy Northwest’s programs and activities. S/He
should be flexible, approachable, and eager to interact with staff across the
organization. The bookkeeper will work with the finance team, which includes a
staff accountant and finance director. This is a full-time and exempt position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage
accounts receivable and accounts payable processing along with billing and
invoicing
·
Petty
cash, credit card and bank reconciliations
·
Audit and
Form 990 preparation
·
Payroll,
in partnership with the finance director
·
Partner
with the in-house consulting service on invoicing and client tracking
·
Accurate
grant tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds
·
Office
support: manage office supply inventory and order supplies as needed, other
tasks as needed
·
Be an
active member of the team by professionally representing Philanthropy Northwest
at events, engaging with our members and partners, fostering deep working
relationships with staff, consultants and the communities we serve
REQUIRED Qualifications:
·
A
positive and flexible attitude, strong interpersonal and communication skills,
and eagerness to contribute to our mission and vison
·
Experience
with robust accounting systems, specifically MIP/Sage/Abila fund accounting.
·
Knowledge
of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
·
Experience
with fiscal sponsor programs a plus
·
Minimum
of 4 years in bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit
sector
·
An
enthusiasm for the nonprofit or philanthropic sector; an ability to adapt to a
changing environment
·
Excellent
communication skills
Salary & Benefits
The
annual compensation for this FTE position includes a competitive package of
benefits including medical, dental, Flexible Spending Accounts and a retirement
contribution. The salary range is $45,000 – $60,000.
