Donor/Member relations - Philanthropy NW - break into the non-profits

The JOB

We seek an energetic, innovative and experienced professional to lead staff and board in defining both the organization’s donor and member relation strategies. Because Philanthropy Northwest is expanding beyond its traditional membership model to incorporate “advancement” into its relationship cultivation strategy, this person will be instrumental in reimagining our approach to connecting donors and Philanthropy Northwest around mutually-shared points of interest. At the same time, the Donor and Member Relations Director maintains direct responsibility for developing members recruitment and retention strategies and meeting associated goals. Extraordinary relationship skills are key to success in this role. Travel is required.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Design and co-lead the necessary change process to embrace a donor-centric culture.

·        Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships between Philanthropy Northwest and philanthropic partners such as members, businesses and community leaders.

·        Develop, implement and manage strategies for member recruitment and retention. Duties include managing the annual fall campaign; tracking membership renewals; preparing reports; identifying and cultivating prospects; managing communications and processes for in-take of new members; staffing the Membership Engagement Committee; connecting members with mutual interests and responding to member requests for assistance.

·        Develop, implement and manage advancement and sponsorship strategies and activities. Duties include identifying and co-developing opportunities for major and annul fund-like gifts; ensuring successful donor cultivation practices; tracking and submitting grant reports; and monitoring progress on goals.

·        Represent Philanthropy Northwest in 6-state region. Increase presence and integrate / coordinate efforts with communications, professional development, public policy, The Giving Practice, Mission Investors Exchange and Community Democracy Workshop.

·        Develop new strategies and suggest programming in response to ongoing analysis gathered by monitoring the external environment in context of Philanthropy Northwest’s goals and strategies.

 

qualifications

Many paths could have led you to this position and we seek no single set of qualifications or experiences. The more of the following skills and experience you have, the stronger your application will be:

·        Experience in advancement, philanthropy, nonprofits and/or membership organizations

·        At least eight (8) years of relevant experience with proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals when managing membership campaigns, advancement or development

·        Experience in and enthusiasm for donor cultivation practices and projects

·        Excellent writing, verbal and presentation skills

·        Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

·        Solid problem-solving skills that demonstrate innovation, risk-taking and empathy

·        Experience in Salesforce or other equivalent databases

·        Undergraduate degree

 

Salary and Benefits

The annual compensation for this full-time (40 hours/week) position includes a package of benefits including medical, vision, dental, Flex-Plan and retirement. Salary is dependent on experience.
