System Administrator I

Our mission at the Allen Institute for Brain Science is to accelerate the understanding of how the human brain works in health and disease. Using a big science approach, we generate useful public resources, drive technological and analytical advances, and discover fundamental brain properties through integration of experiments, modeling and theory.

We are seeking a customer-focused Linux System Administrator to join our IT Operations team!  This team is a technical organization comprised of both system administration and end-user support, providing IT services supporting our scientific initiatives.  This position will be responsible for regular deployments of internal applications,OS and hardware maintenance of servers and workstations, and provide Tier 1/2 Linux support within a regular on call rotation schedule.
 ​Job Responsibilities

  • Tier 1/2 Linux support for servers, workstations, and cross-platform services. 
  • Deployment of business applications on a regular schedule.
  • Participation in the on-call rotation schedule

​Basic Qualifications 

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 1-3 years of related experience and/or training
  • Linux support experience in a production environment (CentOS/RHEL preferred)
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages including Python, Ruby, Perl, or Bash is required.
