Washington State’s Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) Information Technology (IT) Department consists of 200 employees who provide services to DSHS’s 18,000 employees, multiple business partners, and most importantly, all of the state residents who count on DSHS for multiple means of assistance.  The department focuses on implementing and sustaining business / technology solutions and services that support the DSHS Framework for the Future, the Governor’s Priorities of Government and the Washington State Information Technology Strategy.

Become part of the IT team whose goals include:

·        Innovate and deliver better services to make public interaction with state government more streamlined and responsive.

·        Make government data more accessible to citizens to increase transparency and to encourage private sector innovation.

·        Continually focus on making state business operations efficient, nimble and frugal.

·        Build and support credible, well-planned, trusted IT organizations that save money and make employees more productive.

Paid training programs, shared commuter options, and employee activities are all available to employees working in the Olympia area for DSHS.  You will have opportunities to enroll in many programs that private corporations have eliminated from their employee benefits.  As a full-time State employee you will accrue one day of paid vacation leave and one day of paid sick leave per month.  Full-time employees are entitled to eleven paid holidays.  You and your family members are covered by medical (including vision), dental and basic life insurance.   As a new employee you will have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs to enroll in.

Add this to the fact that you will be working for the largest State Agency in Washington; one which serves 2.5 million residents.  DSHS’s Information Technology structure is complex and wide-spread.  Our IT employees are committed long-term not only to system integrity and career loyalty, but increasing their skill-set to provide sustainability and efficiency for the residents of WA.  Together, we work to decrease poverty, improve safety and health status and increase educational and employment success to support people and communities in reaching their potential.  We look forward to your interest!
