Inventory and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist - Northwest Harvest

Position:                    Inventory and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist
Primary Location:     Kent
Normal Work Days:  M-F, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Status:                        Regular Full Time, Non Exempt
Reports To:               Operations Manager

Northwest Harvest is an independent hunger relief nonprofit that provides more than 30 million pounds of food annually to hungry people in the State of Washington through an established network of more than 360 food banks, high need schools, and meal programs.  

 

General Summary: Assess, develop, and monitor Agency-wide quality assurance and control program. Assess, develop and monitor compliance with Food Safety Best Practices.  Conduct and document cycle count program. Perform under general supervision and use special training, experience and knowledge to conduct product inspections and ensure product safety, integrity and quality.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Develop and monitor standards for product acceptance  and distribution in conjunction with Agency stakeholders

·         Develop and monitor SOP’s as they relate to Food Safety and Handling

·         Conduct trainings and implement new programs for state wide consistency and compliance

·         Develop and execute Recall Plans

·         Remedy food quality and/or food safety issues with our partner programs in conjunction with Distribution Coordinator and Partner Programs Manager

·         Perform evaluations of inventory for quality, expiration dates, rotation, and inventory levels. Participate in  all Federal & State Inspections as well as product discrepancy notices

·         Operate and maintain powered and non-powered materials handling equipment (including forklifts and order pickers) in accordance with OSHA standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

·         At least 3 years experience in a quality control or quality assurance role in a general food handling setting, grocery/warehouse/general food experience strongly preferred

·         Knowledge of HAACP standards and certifications

·         Membership in SQF and knowledge of industry best practices

·         Able to lift 50 LBS. repetitively throughout an 8 hour shift with or without reasonable accommodation

·         Maintain inventory accuracy through documented cycle count program

·         Utilize computerized Warehouse Management System (Ceres)

·         Basic computer use for email and other systems

·         Maintain clean and safe working environment

·         Strong writing and communication skills, ability to research technical specifications, interpret scientific and laboratory data, and implement programs and standards

·         Staff Home Team Harvest and two other events

·         Perform other duties as assigned
